Corvil Engineer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Corvil Engineer to take full ownership of network visibility and latency monitoring within a real-time, low-latency trading environment. This is a hands-on, hybrid role embedded with a highly skilled infrastructure and platform team. You’ll be responsible not just for support and analysis, but for shaping and executing the monitoring architecture end-to-end, from data collection to actionable insights.
This is a mission-critical role where accuracy, performance, and reliability directly impact trading outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the deployment, configuration, and performance optimization of Corvil appliances across global trading infrastructure.
- Design and implement visibility strategies—including SPAN vs TAP decisions—to ensure precision in packet capture and latency tracking.
- Analyze real-time trading flows, market data, and application-layer traffic for bottlenecks and anomalies.
- Collaborate closely with network, application, and platform engineering teams to ensure end-to-end visibility and performance.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in data quality, capture fidelity, and monitoring reach, advising on hardware or architectural upgrades where needed.
- Deliver detailed post-trade diagnostics, incident analysis, and real-time troubleshooting support.
- Communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders, including latency dashboards and reporting.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with Corvil Network Analytics, including configuration, traffic capture, and custom decoding.
- Proven experience in low-latency trading, market data systems, or financial services environments.
- Deep knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast) and ability to interpret raw packet flows.
- Experience implementing and evaluating SPAN vs TAP capture strategies for accuracy and performance.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities, with the ability to own and resolve complex visibility issues independently.
- Comfortable making architectural recommendations and influencing monitoring infrastructure decisions.
Nice to Have
- Corvil Certified Engineer (CCE) certification.
- Experience with FIX protocol, multicast distribution, PTP time synchronization, or Linux-based trading platforms.
- Familiarity with performance metrics in trading (e.g., order-to-execution latency, jitter, packet loss).
- Exposure to tools like Wireshark, Gigamon, Splunk, or similar observability stacks.
